Problem Statement

The Client didn’t have a website for their plumbing business. They don’t have prepared content or images to work with, and have no idea what style they’d like.

Design Process + Strategy

For the Parmley Plumbing landing page, I used the StoryBrand framework to craft the content. This approach ensures that the messaging is clear, customer-focused, and guides potential clients through the decision-making process. The content positions the customer as the hero with a plumbing problem, while Parmley Plumbing is the trusted guide offering a solution through a clear plan and call to action.

To enhance the landing page’s effectiveness, I applied the following 8 UX/UI principles:

  1. Visual Hierarchy: The most critical information, like services and contact details, is highlighted using size and contrast to draw immediate attention.
  2. Fitts’ Law: Key call-to-action buttons, like “Get a Quote,” are prominently placed and easily clickable, facilitating quick conversions.
  3. Hick’s Law: The page is streamlined to minimize choices, ensuring users can quickly make decisions without feeling overwhelmed.
  4. Gestalt Principles: Related elements, such as services and testimonials, are grouped together, creating an organized and easy-to-navigate layout.
  5. The Von Restorff Effect: Special offers and key messages are designed to stand out with distinct colors, drawing attention to critical areas.
  6. Social Proof: Customer testimonials are strategically placed to build trust and credibility, reassuring potential clients of the quality of service.
  7. Cognitive Load Theory: The content is concise and to the point, preventing information overload and keeping the user’s focus on essential details.
  8. Aesthetic-Usability Effect: The design is visually appealing, which not only attracts users but also enhances their perception of the site’s usability and the professionalism of the business.

These principles were combined to create a landing page that is not only visually appealing but also effective in generating leads and driving conversions for the plumbing business.
